The Tigers finished in last place in each of their first four seasons, but finally put it together in 1924, finishing in first place. The players, however, were upset that the league had added six games to the schedule that season, and they were not paid for the extra games. When ownership would not pay up, the players went on strike and were not allowed to play for the Stanley Cup. The Canadiens were declared league champions and the Tigers never played another game. Top players included, Billy Burch, Babe Dye, Shorty Green, and Joe Malone.
